What is a briz sash curtain?
It is a short, gathered curtain mounted directly on the opening part of a window or door rather than on a pole above it. A channel is sewn along the top edge – and usually the bottom edge too – and a slim rod is threaded through it. The rods clip into small brackets on the sash, and the fabric bunches along them in soft gathers. No track or wall fixing is needed.
It moves with the window
This is the real advantage. Open the window, tilt it, or swing a French door wide, and the curtain goes with it – nothing hangs in front of the opening to block the breeze. In Antalya, where kitchen and bathroom windows stay open for much of the year, that is very practical. On balcony doors you never have to push a curtain aside before stepping out. More ideas for the heat are in choosing curtains and blinds for Antalya’s climate.
Two rods or one?
- Top and bottom rods: the fabric lies flat against the glass and stays put when the door moves.
- Top rod only: the fabric falls freely and looks lighter and more relaxed.
If you prefer a plain fabric that rolls up instead of gathering, a sash-mounted roller blind is the alternative.
Fabrics
Plain sheers filter daylight while keeping the room private from outside. Linen-look fabrics feel more natural, and patterned voile adds a cheerful touch to kitchens. Each panel is cut to the exact size of the glass on that sash, which we measure one by one at the free home visit. For a full-length voile hung in front of the window, see our sheer curtains; for washing tips, read curtain washing and care.
