How the square metres are worked out
Venetian and pleated blinds are priced by area: width (m) × drop (m) = area (m²), multiplied by the price per square metre.
The size is that of the blind, not the glass. A blind fitted inside the window recess uses the recess dimensions; one fitted on the wall overlaps the opening slightly on every side. So the same window can come out at a slightly different area depending on how it is mounted.
Worked examples
Based on average prices; your final figure depends on the model and fabric. Product details: wooden blinds, aluminium blinds and pleated blinds.
| Size | Area | Wooden (~3,000 TL/m²) | Aluminium (~2,000 TL/m²) | Pleated (1,000–4,000 TL/m²) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 120 × 150 cm window | 1.8 m² | ≈ 5,400 TL | ≈ 3,600 TL | 1,800–7,200 TL |
| 200 × 220 cm balcony door | 4.4 m² | ≈ 13,200 TL | ≈ 8,800 TL | 4,400–17,600 TL |
Take a living-room window 120 cm wide and 150 cm tall: 1.20 × 1.50 = 1.8 m². In wood that is about 1.8 × 3,000 = 5,400 TL; in aluminium about 3,600 TL. A pleated blind on the same window lands between 1,800 and 7,200 TL depending on fabric and system. With several windows, each is calculated separately and added up.
Small windows: for a tiny bathroom or stairwell window the calculated area can be very low. Since the mechanism and fitting do not shrink with the window, a minimum size may apply; we tell you at the visit.
Budgeting for a whole home
You do not have to use one product throughout; mixing by room is often more practical and easier on the budget. Say you choose wooden blinds for two 120 × 150 cm living-room windows (2 × 5,400 = about 10,800 TL) and an aluminium blind for an 80 × 120 cm kitchen window (0.96 m², about 1,920 TL). At average prices that is roughly 12,720 TL for those two rooms; pleated blinds, or zebra, roller and curtain options quoted at the visit, can then be added for the bedrooms. Once the exact sizes are taken, the written quote lists every item separately. Not sure which product suits which room? See how to choose curtains and blinds.
What changes the price
- Fabric or material class: real wood versus wood-effect PVC; plain versus special-colour aluminium; light-filtering, dim-out or blackout pleated fabric. This is why the pleated range is so wide.
- Mechanism: cord, chain, or top-down/bottom-up pleated systems.
- Motor: motorised operation adds noticeably to the cost of the same size.
- Mounting: on the sash, in the recess, on the wall or ceiling, and any special profiles or brackets.
- Proportions: very wide or tall openings may need to be split into several blinds.
Why other products are quoted at the visit
For zebra and roller blinds, sheers, curtains and motorised curtains the fabric drives the price: weave, fullness, lining and the choice of track or decorative pole. One figure on a website would be either too high or unrealistically low, so we bring the sample books to a free home visit and price the fabric you like.
