One district, very different buildings
Muratpaşa is the heart of Antalya: the old harbour and Kaleiçi, the busy avenues of the centre and residential streets running east to the coast. If you are looking for a curtain shop in Muratpaşa, the first thing to know is that neighbouring buildings rarely share the same windows. Older blocks in Kızıltoprak or Bahçelievler have radiators under the sill, replacement PVC frames and openings that differ by a few centimetres. New towers in Fener and Çağlayan have floor-to-ceiling glass that takes the full midday sun. And in Kaleiçi, narrow, tall windows sit in stone walls that should be disturbed as little as possible.
Neighbourhood notes
- Kaleiçi (Kılınçarslan, Barbaros, Selçuk, Tuzcular) – historic houses, many now guesthouses and boutique hotels. We fix into timber frames or recesses where we can and favour slim Roman blinds or a simple sheer. The lanes are hard to reach by van, so we carry materials in on foot and agree a fitting time in advance.
- Kızıltoprak, Bahçelievler, Etiler – dense older blocks with living rooms facing the street. Zebra blinds let daylight in while keeping passers-by and neighbours from looking in.
- Meltem – lots of rented flats near the university; landlords ask for hard-wearing roller blinds and aluminium venetians.
- Yüksekalan, Gençlik, Konuksever – offices, clinics and practices, where glare control and wipe-clean surfaces matter. See our blinds for offices.
- Şirinyalı, Fener, Çağlayan, Güzeloba – the coastal side of the district, with new towers and gated complexes. Glazed balconies and sea views are covered on our Lara page, as Lara is part of Muratpaşa too.
What suits which home
- High-ceilinged older lounge: curtains and drapes hung close to the ceiling make the window look taller and soften street noise and winter draughts. A light sheer in front keeps the room bright by day.
- Study or book-lined room: wooden blinds with 50 mm slats suit older joinery and let you tilt light away from the desk.
- Glass-walled tower flat: a zebra or roller blind for daytime plus drapes for the evening, or one ceiling track that carries both layers.
- Radiator under the window: we fit the blind close to the glass, or finish the curtain just above the radiator, so the heat still reaches the room.
Street-facing windows
On the main avenues, dust settles quickly on fluffy sheers, while flat roller and venetian blinds wipe clean. No curtain is soundproofing, but a full, heavy drape does take the edge off traffic noise and echo. And when the block opposite is only a few metres away, you need a daytime layer, not just an evening one.
Moving within the city
People move often in the centre. When you change flats, our curtain removal and refitting service takes your curtains down and puts them up again in the new home. Curtains that have collected years of street dust can go to our curtain cleaning service. In both cases the price and date are agreed once we have seen the curtains, by photo or in person.
Prices
Price depends on product, size, fabric and mechanism, and in older buildings on the fixing surface too. Averages: wooden blinds about 3,000 TL/m², aluminium blinds about 2,000 TL/m², pleated blinds 1,000–4,000 TL/m². Everything else is quoted after measuring. Details are on our prices page; credit-card instalments are available.
How we work in Muratpaşa
Our showroom is in Bahçeyaka, Döşemealtı, north of the centre. Muratpaşa is not far, but city traffic and the car-free lanes of Kaleiçi mean every visit is booked by appointment with a fixed time. Send a photo of the window on WhatsApp first (+90 506 668 41 04), ideally showing the sill and the space above the frame, and we will suggest options before booking a free home visit with sample books. If you let a flat here and live abroad, we share choices by photo and video and you approve remotely. We speak English, Russian and German. Book your visit.
