A neighbourhood of new builds
A large share of our enquiries from Altınkale come from people building a house or waiting for one to be finished. This part of Döşemealtı has seen detached houses, villas and low-rise projects go up in recent years, and because it is close to our showroom we can drop by at different building stages.
Most curtain problems in a new house are really building problems: a hollow where the track should be screwed into concrete, a forgotten socket for a motor, a suspended ceiling that stops too close to the window. Afterwards they can only be fixed by breaking things open.
What to decide at each stage
| Stage | Curtain decision |
|---|---|
| Electrics | Power points above windows that may get a motor |
| Window frames | Opening direction, handle position, shutter box |
| Plasterboard ceiling | Hidden curtain recess, reinforcement for the track |
| After painting | Final measurement for production |
| Before moving in | Production and fitting date |
Power for motors
If motorised curtains are even a possibility, running a cable during the electrics stage is easy. You only need to decide which windows might get one – wide living-room glass, high windows out of reach; the system itself can be chosen later.
Ceiling recesses
Sheers and curtains dropping from a recess in the ceiling are popular in new homes. Agree its position and width before the plasterer starts: one track, or a double curtain system for sheer and curtain? Two tracks need more width. Plasterboard alone may sag under a track over time, so we recommend timber or metal reinforcement along the line.
Frames and shutter boxes
If pleated or roller blinds go on the window sash, the handle and frame depth matter, and the opening direction decides whether the blind hits the wall. Where an external roller-shutter box sits above the window, the space for an inside rail gets tighter – we measure it on site.
Products that suit new builds
- Silhouette shades on wide living-room glass: soft vanes between two sheer layers.
- Pleated blinds fitted to the sash, moving with the window.
- Motorised systems where windows are hard to reach.
Prioritising for moving day
Budgets tend to tighten towards the end of a build, so we suggest an order rather than doing everything at once: blackout in bedrooms and privacy on street-facing windows first, then the bigger living-room decisions – silhouette shades, a double track or motors – a few weeks later. As long as tracks, recesses and power points are ready from the start, the products can follow when the budget allows.
Prices
Verified averages: pleated 1,000–4,000 TL/m², wooden blinds about 3,000 TL/m², aluminium about 2,000 TL/m². Silhouette and motorised systems are quoted at the visit – see prices. If you own a garden villa next door, see Yeşilbayır. Get in touch for a planning visit.
